How to use the Sprite Death Animation
- Drop a sprite with a transparent background.
- Pick an effect: dissolve, burn, burst, disintegrate or blink.
- Set the frames, speed, colour or direction, and press New variation for another take.
- Download a GIF or the sprite sheet.
Using it in your game
Play the sheet once when the enemy dies and remove the object on the last frame, which is empty. Burst and disintegrate grow the canvas so pixels can fly out; keep the sprite centred on it.
Frequently asked questions
What effects can it make?
Dissolve (eaten away in patches with an edge colour), burn (burns away with embers, in the direction you pick), burst (the pixels fly apart and fall), disintegrate (drifts away pixel by pixel) and blink (the classic retro flash and fade).
Does it keep my sprite's colours?
Yes. Every pixel stays its own colour as it moves or fades; only dissolve's edge and blink's flash use the one colour you choose (burn uses ember colours), so the animation fits your palette.
How do I use it in my engine?
Download the sprite sheet (frames in one row) or a GIF. The first frame is the sprite and the last is empty, so play it once when the enemy dies and remove the object on the last frame.
Can I use it from Claude Code or Cursor?
Yes. The free sprite_death tool on the Voidless MCP server makes the same animation from any image or a sprite in your library.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, with no account and no limit.
