Frequently asked questions
How do I use the exported SpriteFrames in Godot 4?
Unzip into your project so the PNG sits at the res:// path you set, then select an AnimatedSprite2D and drag the .tres onto its Sprite Frames property. Every animation appears with its fps and loop setting.
What is inside the .tres file?
A format=3 text resource with one ext_resource for the sheet, one AtlasTexture sub-resource per frame (a Rect2 region of the sheet), and an animations array with each name, frame list, speed and loop flag. Frames shared by two animations reuse one AtlasTexture.
Can it make a TileSet too?
Yes. Switch to TileSet, set the tile size plus any margin and spacing, and it writes a TileSet .tres with a TileSetAtlasSource that already has every non-empty tile created, ready for a TileMapLayer.
Does it work with Godot 3?
No. The files use the Godot 4 resource format (format=3 and the Godot 4 TileSet layout), which Godot 3 cannot read.
